Twitch just announced with the latest blog post that they would begin selling PC Games later this spring. Robin Fontaine, Product Marketing Manager of Ecommerce at Twitch, said that this is an obvious step to be taken because people like to check games before buying it on Twitch and after the activation of this new service, they will be able to buy the games without even leaving the site.
So, while watching a Stream, you will see an option to check whether the match is available on Twitch or not for purchase. People who are committed to supporting their favorite streamers will be happy to know that these streamers which will opt into the program will now get a 5% cut. Also, the Developers and Publishers will get 70%, and rest of them will reach to Twitch itself, just like it happens on Steam. Purchase for the Game will be performed via Amazon account Worldwide, and all the pricing might be in USD initially, but later support for the other currencies will be available too.
Also, over the purchases of $4.99, you will get a Twitch Crate with a chance to grab a random digital loot like a chat badge, game specific emotes, some bits, etc. In the beginning, no pre-ordering will be available, but in the future, it will be added soon.
Here is the current list of all the Launch partners, through which Twitch promised to talk more in details about this in the upcoming days.
Digital Extremes, Telltale Games, Ubisoft, Hi-Rez Studios, Double Fine Games, Fred Wood, 11Bit, Jackbox Games, tinyBuild, Raw Fury, Devolver Digital, Gambitious, Blue Mammoth Games, iNK Stories, Versus Evil, Proletariat, Paradox Interactive, Trion Worlds, Vlambeer and Campo Santo
