Bhopal is a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It’s one of India’s greenest cities. There are two main lakes, the Upper Lake and the Lower Lake. The Buddhist vihara at Sanchi, famous for its Great Stupa is located at Sanchi Town in Raisen District of the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, it is 46 km north-east of Bhopal.
2. BHIMBETKA ROCK SHELTERS
The Bhimbetka rock shelters are an archaeological site of the Paleolithic, exhibiting the earliest traces of human life on the Indian subcontinent, and thus the beginning of the South Asian Stone Age.
3. TAJ UL MASJID
The meaning of Taj-ul-Masjid translates to ‘The Crown of Mosques,’ and the magnificent architecture reflects just that. The masjid was built between the years 1868 and 1901, started by Sultan Shah Jehan Emperor of Bhopal. Not only is the mosque the largest in the country, but it also happens to be the second largest mosque in Asia. Made of red stone, the mosque is situated by the lake referred to as the Motia Talab.
4. BIRLA MANDIR (LAXMI NARAYAN TEMPLE)
Birla Mandir (Birla Temple) refers to different Hindu temples or Mandir built by the Birla Family, in different cities. All these temples are magnificently built, some of them in white marble or in sandstone. The temples are generally located in a prominent location, carefully designed to accommodate a large number of visitors. The worship and discourses are well organized.
5. MANUABHAN TEKRI
Mahaveer Tekri or Manua Bhan ki Tekri is one of the very famous Jain Temple in the Bhopal. Manua Bhan Ki Tekri is situated 7 km far from Bhopal on the top of hill in Lalghatti. The beauty of Bhopal can be seen in fact it can be felt once you reach to Mahaveer of Manua Bhan ki Tekri. It is very well designed and the big stones on the hill add some more beauty to the temple.

8. KERWA DAM
Kerwa dam is a popular picnic spot near Bhopal city. It is around 15kms from Bhopal city and very well connected by road. It was developed as an eco-tourism site where Bhopal people can spend their day while enjoying the scenic nature, birding, adventure games etc. It covers 69sq.kms. area which includes it catchment area. It is a multi-purpose dam which is used for generation of Hydro-electric power, fulfill water requirement of Bhopal city and to develop an eco-tourism site where people can visit to spend their weekend time and children can enjoy the picnic.

10) VAN VIHAR NATIONAL PARK
Van Vihar is National Park located adjacent to Upper Lake of Bhopal city at Madhya Pradesh in Central India. It is spread over an area of 4.43 sq. km. area and was declared as a National Park in year 1983. Although it is a declared National Park, but on visit you will find it more a Zoological Park. It has been developed and managed as a zoological park in which wild animals were caged in a their natural surrounding. It is a important part of Bhopal local sightseeing.
