At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes and it’s AMG performance division unveiled a stunning GT concept.
It is a four door car that is clad in red livery that gave the audience a preview of upcoming production model developed independently by the AMG division. “With the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept, we are giving a preview of our third entirely independently developed sports car and are extending the attractive AMG GT family to include a four-door variant,” Mercedes-AMG chairman Tobias Moers said in a statement.
The framework of the GT concept brings together the sleek body look of a sports car and the comfort and the practicality of a sedan. In many ways, the GT concept sounds like the next generation of the CLS as the GT concept is more or less the futuristic variant of the same.
You realize the actual value of the GT concept once you look under its stylish exterior. Under the hood, a 4.0-liter V8 engine mated to a Formula One-derived AMG hybrid drive unit placed. In total, it produces a spectacular 805 system horsepower.
The GT Concept’s 805 cars run on all four wheels through Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring. According to Mercedes, it will be able to attain the speed of 60 mph in under 6 seconds.
If you look at it then for the AMG division the GT concept is following the lead of SLS AMG supercar and the AMG GT sports car.
What’s more is that Moers also confirmed that the brand is going to reveal a new 1,000 horsepower hybrid hypercar later this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
