Bill Gates Warning: Bio-Terrorism Could Kill Millions of People

Bio-engineering could be used as a terrorist weapon says Microsoft founder Bill Gates at the Munich security conference.

A warning by the world richest man and philanthropist Bill Gates that the bioterrorism could easily target tens of millions of people safety. Bill Gates, who has been working on global health campaign and funding them since last 20 years, addresses the Munich security conference said, “We ignore the link between health security and international security at our peril.”

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft who spends billions toward the philanthropic drive for the betterment of health worldwide, stated:” The next epidemic could originate on the computer screen of a terrorist intent on using genetic engineering to create a synthetic version of the smallpox virus or a super contagious and deadly strain of the flu.”

Top intelligence agency from USA and UK has already said that Islamic State is trying to develop Bio-weapon from a long time at its bases. However, they lower down the threat that they are going to need highly skilled people and experts, with necessary tools and laboratories at the relatively calm environment.

Also, other security experts say that the threat from the bio-weapon has become more realistic from the last 5-10 years, with the changes in the molecular biology that make the development of Bio-weapons more approachable.

Bill Gates, who makes the first appearance at the Munich security conference on Saturday, tells: “Whether it occurs by a quirk of nature or at the hand of a terrorist, epidemiologists say a fast-moving airborne pathogen could kill more than 30 million people in less than a year. And they say there is a reasonable probability the world will experience such an outbreak in the next 10 to 15 years.”

Speaking to the Telegraph, Bill Gates further added: “It’s hard to get your mind around a catastrophe of that scale, but it happened not that long ago. In 1918, an unusually virulent and deadly strain of flu killed between 50 million and 100 million people”.

“You might be wondering how real these doomsday scenarios are. The fact that a deadly global pandemic has not occurred in recent history shouldn’t be mistaken for evidence that a deadly pandemic will not happen in the future. And even if the next pandemic isn’t on the scale of the 1918 flu, we would be wise to consider the social and economic turmoil that might ensure if something like Ebola made its way into urban centers.”

Bill Gates told the international community at Munich security conference that we needed to prepare for epidemics the way military established for the way. He said: “This includes germ games and other preparedness exercises so we can better understand how diseases will spread, how people will respond in a panic and how to deal with things like overloaded highways and communications systems.”
